The 47th time I saw that magnetic phone mount ad with the guy driving a jeep through a mud puddle I finally added up the numbers

That thing has been in my feed for 3 years now and I bet they've spent enough on ads to buy everyone watching a real mount, has anyone actually bought one of those and did it survive a single pothole?

Ended up getting a cheap magnetic mount from a gas station and it's held up through two years of gravel roads. The secret is to use one of those thin metal plates you stick inside the phone case instead of on the outside. Never had it fall off once.

Guy driving a jeep through a mud puddle" is the only thing that mount has ever survived, I'm pretty sure. Mine fell off somewhere between my kitchen and my living room.
