Overheard a couple arguing about a $5 shirt at the mall

They were in front of one of those pop-up stores, and the guy was saying, 'How can it be bad? It's just a shirt.' The woman shot back, 'A shirt that costs less than your coffee doesn't just happen.' It made me think about all the steps we never see. Has anyone else had a moment like that, where a simple comment made you question the whole cheap clothes thing?

Remember that shirt from a fast fashion place. It fell apart in the wash, but the weird part was the smell. It had this chemical stink that wouldn't come out, no matter how many times I washed it. Makes you wonder what's in the dye or the fabric.

That line about the shirt costing less than coffee really got me. I once bought a three pack of socks for the price of a latte and felt like a genius. Then one of them developed a hole roughly the size of a quarter after two washes. You start to picture the factory and it gets less funny.

Yeah but sometimes that cheap shirt is a total win. I've got one that's lasted years and it's my favorite thing to wear. The gamble is part of the fun.
