Update: I finally gave that 'wet saw scoring' trick a real shot
Always thought it was a waste of time to score the back of a tile with a wet saw before snapping, especially on a big job like the 12x24 porcelain in that Denver condo last week. My helper kept pushing me to try it on the tricky cuts around the toilet flange, so I did. Zero chipping on the cut edge, which saved me a ton of time grinding. Anyone else use this for large format stuff, or is there a better way?

Yeah, that trick is a total lifesaver on big porcelain. I was stubborn about it too until it saved a whole backsplash job from chipping. Now I do it on anything over a foot.

Oh man, same here. I fought it for years, thought it was just an extra step. Tried it on some big floor tile last month and it was a total game changer. Clean break every time.
