I was setting up a wedding arch in Austin and the wind caught it

We were at the venue on a Friday afternoon, securing a big floral piece to a metal frame. A gust came through, maybe 25 mph, and the whole arch lifted off the ground. It took two of us to hold it down before we could add extra sandbags. Now I double the weight on any outdoor setup, no matter how calm it seems. Anyone else have a close call with weather at an event?

Ever have a moment where you're basically just a human sandbag? I learned that lesson the hard way with a pop-up tent at a family picnic.

Watching that tent fly away is just the start. You see it everywhere, like when you're the only thing keeping a grocery cart from rolling into traffic, or when you have to lean against a wobbly bookshelf someone just assembled. We end up as temporary fixes for half-baked solutions all the time. It's like the world's quietly decided that human ballast is a valid design feature.

Actually, I think @hannah_west39 had it right with "human sandbag." Ballast is for ships, but sandbags are the real temporary fix.
