My flower buying trip to Colombia went sideways

I went to Colombia to buy direct from growers for my business. The flowers were great, but shipping costs ate up all my savings. How do other florists handle buying from abroad without losing money?

Actually, shipping's always a killer... you have to build it into your price from the get-go. Maybe try sharing a container with other local shops to cut the cost.

Hey @wells.christopher, I get your point about shipping always being a killer, but I look at it another way. If you build it into the price from the start, your stuff can end up with a high price tag that turns buyers off. Sharing a container with other shops might cut costs, but I've seen it lead to more waits and coordination headaches. I've found that setting a clear flat shipping rate or offering free shipping past a set cart total works better for sales. What's your take on trying those approaches instead?

Wait, you actually flew all the way to Colombia yourself? That's the part that gets me. The flowers are fine, but the plane ticket alone must have been huge. Didn't you check the shipping rates before you went?
