A single email from a past client turned my whole month around

Last Tuesday was slow, maybe one invoice out. Then an old client from a 2022 project emailed out of the blue. They needed a rush update on the work I did, a new report by Friday. I quoted $2,500 for the three-day turnaround, and they agreed in an hour. Has a random referral ever saved a dry spell for you guys?

Yeah had that happen last year. I just made them pay half up front before I even opened the files. Saved my butt when they went quiet after delivery.

Sounds like a normal freelance gig to me.

My mate took a gig like that and the client ghosted him after the work was done. He never got paid a single penny for two weeks of solid work. It's a real risk with some of these "normal" freelance setups.
