Filming a festival in Austin made me rethink my whole gear setup

Everyone says you need a big rig for live events, but I shot a full day at the Pecan Street Festival with just a mirrorless camera and a single lens. The small size let me move through the crowd and get shots a bigger camera would have missed. Has anyone else found that less gear can actually mean better footage?

Depends on the job, but sometimes you need the bigger gear.

Totally get where Jake is coming from, used to pack way too much myself. Then I got stuck on a site where my smaller drill just wouldn't cut it, wasted half a day. Now I'd rather have the right power on hand even if I don't use it every time. What do you do when your usual gear isn't enough?

What if bigger gear just means more stuff to haul around? I've seen guys waste time setting up gear they never use. Right tool for the job beats having the most tools.
