Vent: My first attempt at a French polish went sideways in the middle of a job
I was working on a mahogany table in my garage last Tuesday, and the pad started dragging because I let the shellac get too thick. I just stopped, wiped it all down with some alcohol, and started the bodying stage over from scratch... Has anyone else had to restart a polish halfway through?

Oh man, my buddy did that on a guitar body. He had to strip the whole back and start fresh.

Mahogany is a cruel teacher, isn't it? That shellac turns to glue in a heartbeat. I had a pad stick so bad once it left a perfect lint pattern, like a fossil in the finish. Starting over is the only move, even though it feels like admitting defeat to a piece of furniture.
