PSA: That $80 'smart' water bottle is just a dumb bottle with a light

I bought one last month thinking it would help me drink more water (it didn't, the app is useless). It literally just has a little LED that blinks, which you can't even see in daylight. Anyone know a real hydration tracker that's not a total gimmick?

Saw a review that said most hydration trackers are just expensive timers. They remind you to drink but don't actually measure anything. A basic free phone app with alerts does the same thing.

Consider the social pressure angle, @adams.vera. A phone app is private, easy to ignore. Wearing a tracker on your wrist is a public promise to yourself and others. It turns a silent reminder into a visible habit. I know I'm less likely to skip water when my friends see the thing on my arm and ask about it. That extra layer of accountability is the real product, not the timer itself.

Totally! My coworkers ask about mine all the time, keeps me honest.
