Rant: A smart speaker review argument totally derailed our cozy game night.

My friend pulled up a critical review on his phone and started dissecting the voice assistant's flaws (the mic sensitivity, things like that) mid-game. It sparked a back-and-forth where half the group defended their own gadgets based on old reviews. The whole night shifted from fun to this weird tech debate nobody wanted. Honestly, check your review-sharing timing unless you want an awkward silence.

Debates about gadgets can spark cool conversations, just maybe not during game night.

My game group ends up talking tech half the time because so many board games use apps now. Actually think game night is one of the best times for those chats. Everyone's already focused on rules and how things work, so debating a new handheld or controller feels pretty natural. It's not a distraction, it's just part of the vibe when you're all playing. We argued about cloud gaming last week while setting up a campaign. Felt totally fine. Mixing analog and digital stuff just happens.

Last week's cloud gaming argument got pretty heated.

Man, why do people bring that stuff up when you're trying to relax? We had a guy who would NOT stop talking about phone battery life during Codenames. What finally worked was just being super direct. I looked at him and said "Dude, my brain is off for games, save the tech talk for later." It felt a little harsh but it WORKED. Now we have a silent rule to keep game night about the game.
