I'm not sold on the minimalist trend for our local shop fronts

The plain signs make the whole street look bland and forgettable.

Remember that old barbershop with the spinning red and white pole. That thing was a landmark, you could spot it from a block away and it just felt welcoming. Guess some character gets lost when everything is just clean lines and a fancy font.

Totally, my old video store had that same kind of charm.

Lol, the barbershop smell was part of the charm.

My local hardware store just replaced its hand-painted sign with a plain black and white one. It's part of a trend where everything looks the same now, from coffee shops to apartment buildings. We lose the small details that make places feel unique and lived-in.
