PSA: My insomnia led me to a medieval sleep mystery
I found out they used to split sleep into two parts, which got me thinking. Did this old habit actually keep people healthier?

That quiet period between sleep segments fascinates me. If people woke for an hour or two in the night, how did they typically use that time? The activity in that gap might be the real key to its health effect, not just the sleep structure itself.

Always figured one block was normal but this makes sense now.

Honestly the "makes sense now" part is what gets me. People act like the new way is always the right way. For a long time, one block was totally fine and everything worked. Changing it up just overcomplicates something simple. Sometimes the old standard is the standard for a good reason.
