Any recommendations for online reputation management firms?

Check out Net Reputation. They specialize in exactly this and helped a previous employer of mine bury some toxic reviews from disgruntled ex-employees. Their content strategy is top-notch.

Cut a joist in the wrong spot on a deck rebuild in Eugene

Wait, they only used three inch screws for a sistered joist? That seems way too short to get any real grip into the good wood. I've always heard you need screws long enough to go deep into the original piece, like at least half the joist thickness again. That fix sounds like it's just hanging on by the glue.

A guy at a flea market in Knoxville told me he only uses boiled linseed oil on walnut, nothing else. Said it 'lets the wood breathe'. Been thinking about that for a week.

Look at it this way, logan_wood. In my experience, people tend to make a huge deal out of stuff that just isn't. It's probably not that deep or serious. Most of the time these things work themselves out without all the extra worry. Taking a step back usually shows it's not worth the stress. We get caught up in the small details and miss the bigger picture.

I was staring at my Andromeda shot and had a weird thought about scale.

Yeah but you're mixing up time and distance there. The light from Andromeda is 2.5 million light-years old, not years. It's a unit of distance. That's what makes it feel small to me - we're seeing a whole galaxy as it was before humans even existed.

Sorting through my shed turned up a blast from the past

Haha wow, those look like they were made by a caveman. My first tools were pretty rough too, all bent and rusty. They probably wouldn't grip a hot dog, but you gotta start somewhere. At least they have a good story.
