Dredge logs: not just for the file cabinet

I always saw daily logs as a waste of time. Then a pump issue had us stuck for hours. We checked my notes from the previous shift and spotted a pressure dip I'd written down. That clue led us to a stuck valve before it blew. Now I put real effort into those entries. They're dull, but they prevent bigger problems. Guess even paperwork has its uses.

Spindle lube leak almost wrecked my machine

I noticed a small oil puddle under my CNC spindle yesterday. It seemed minor, so I kept running jobs. Soon after, the spindle made a weird grinding sound that got louder fast. I hit the stop button before anything broke. This could have led to a full spindle failure if ignored. Now I'm checking all my machines for similar leaks. Has anyone else dealt with lube lines coming loose over time?
