Changed my mind on using a torque screwdriver for panel terminations

I always thought it was a waste of time compared to just going by feel (you know, the old 'tight enough' method). Then I had to redo a whole 42-circuit panel in a new apartment building because of a few loose neutrals that caused intermittent faults. My boss showed me the spec sheet from the breaker maker, and it said 25 inch-pounds. I borrowed his Wera torque driver and tried it. The difference in how solid and even every connection felt was huge. It took maybe an extra 15 minutes total, but I'm sure it saved a callback. Do you guys use them for all your terminations now, or just on certain jobs?

Saw a fence in a new subdivision that made me question a common rule

I was driving through the new Oakridge development last month and saw a whole street of vinyl fences set with posts only 6 feet apart. Everyone says 8 feet is the standard for strength, but these looked rock solid even after that big wind storm we had. The crew must have used deeper holes or a better concrete mix, because not a single section was leaning. Has anyone else seen closer spacing work better in certain spots, or is 8 feet still the golden rule no matter what?

Turns out you can avoid the fancy brake fluid for most rides

I used to insist on top-shelf fluid for every service. Now I see that standard fluid works just fine unless you're racing downhill.
