Caught a local artist selling AI prints at the Portland market last Saturday
I was at the Saturday market in Portland last week and saw this booth selling gorgeous fantasy landscapes. The artist admitted when I asked that they used Midjourney and just upscaled the images. They were charging $40 a print while I know real painters at that market can barely get $30 for originals.

Wait, did the person who bought it even know it was AI before they paid?

Probably not. Scummy seller.

The seller might have a solid reason though, like they clearly listed it as AI art in the description and the buyer just didn't read it (happens all the time on these sites). People skim through listings super fast and miss the fine print, then blame the seller when they realize what they bought. That's not really the seller's fault if they were upfront about it from the start. Plus, digital art like that can still look pretty cool and be worth the price if the buyer actually wanted it for their own collection or something. A lot of buyers don't even care if it's AI as long as it matches their vibe, you know? So calling the seller scummy feels a bit harsh when we don't know the full story here.
