My friend tried to get an AI to write a breakup text for him
We were at a cafe and he showed me the draft, which started with 'Dearest human companion, our neural network compatibility metrics have fallen below optimal thresholds.' I had to explain that maybe he should just say 'it's not working out'. Has anyone else seen an AI give hilariously bad advice for normal stuff?

Yeah, that tracks with what paul_ramirez said about the fancy training data. Do you think the problem is that AI just can't understand simple human context? It reads a bunch of old articles and thinks that's how we talk to each other.

My buddy Dave asked one of those free AI chatbots for a grocery list last week. It told him to procure "a dozen free-range avian ova" and "a loaf of artisanal, fermented grain substrate." He sent me a screenshot from the store, totally confused. I told him it just wanted eggs and bread. These things have no idea how normal people talk.

Remember when those recipe blogs got super weird? I asked an AI for simple pasta steps once and it told me to "gently lower the durum wheat strands into a rolling boil" like bro, just say put the spaghetti in the water. Do you think the training data is just full of old, overly fancy websites?
