Just had a batch of frozen fries turn into a single solid block in my air fryer

I set it to 400 degrees for 15 minutes like usual, but they just fused together into a weird potato brick. Has anyone else had this happen and know how to prevent it?

I've had that happen when the fries were freezer burned or had ice crystals. Try spreading them out on a paper towel for ten minutes first to dry them off. The extra moisture makes them steam and stick together.

Yeah, that paper towel trick is smart. I read something once about how the type of oil matters too. Like if you use olive oil, it can make them soggy because it smokes at a lower temp. They said peanut oil or just regular vegetable oil gets them way crispier. Have you ever tried switching up the oil you use?
