My air fryer basket coating started peeling after 4 months

I bought a new air fryer back in March and the nonstick coating on the basket started flaking off about two weeks ago. At first I thought it was just food residue but then I saw actual silver flakes on my chicken tenders. I stopped using it right away and switched back to my old oven for cooking. Has anyone else had their air fryer coating fail like this?

That coating flaking off is basically a sign the company used the cheapest materials possible.

Oh man that's TERRIBLE. I read somewhere that some cheaper air fryers use lower grade nonstick that just doesn't hold up to heat.

Yeah I mean that's exactly what happened to me with one I got on sale a few years back. It was some off brand from a random website and the coating started peeling within like six months. I was so bummed because I actually used it every day for chicken wings and veggies. You just don't think about the nonstick quality when you see a good price, you know? But then you're stuck eating bits of that coating if you're not careful. I ended up throwing it out and went back to my old toaster oven for a while till I saved up for a better one. It really is a shame how companies cut corners like that on stuff that touches our food.
