Finally figured out why my safety wire kept snapping after 8 years

Made that mistake with a pair of Harbor Freight pliers once. Got what I paid for, which was about two good turns before it all went sideways.

I read somewhere that using the wrong type of pliers can cause micro-cracks in the wire that don't show up right away. Might be worth checking your tool setup.

That makes a lot of sense, @alice928. Kind of like how using a dull knife can squish a tomato instead of slicing it clean, you know? The tiny damage just adds up until something finally fails. Have you noticed that pattern in other tools around your house?
