Shoutout to the guy who told me my thumbnails were trash
I was making YouTube videos for 6 months and getting maybe 50 views each. This random commenter said my thumbnails looked like they were made in MS Paint from 2005. I spent a weekend studying what actually works - bright colors, clear text, a face zoomed in - and my next video hit 2,000 views. Has anyone else had a single piece of criticism totally change their approach?

Jump right in and say someone actually called your thumbnails trash to your face? That takes guts on their part but it clearly paid off for you. A lot of people would just scroll past but that commenter gave you a real gift by being blunt. Crazy how one harsh truth can flip everything around like that.

Hard disagree on this one. Most people who talk trash like that are just projecting their own insecurities or trying to tear someone down. Taking creative advice from random internet commenters is a good way to end up making stuff that pleases nobody. Half the time they don't even know what they want, they just know what they don't like.

Oh man, I actually just read something recently about how important blunt feedback is for creative work. There was this whole article about how people get stuck in their own bubble and need someone to just tell them straight up what isnt working. It makes sense though, sometimes you need that slap in the face to actually see things differently.
