Appreciation post: I thought those 'smart' diagnostic apps were just a gimmick for new techs
My coworker in Phoenix swore by one for Samsung washers, so I finally tried it on a unit with a weird intermittent spin cycle. The app flagged a specific control board sensor I never would've checked first, and it was spot on. Has anyone else found a particular diagnostic tool that actually saved you real time on a confusing job?

But what happens when the app gives you a bad code and you chase the wrong problem for hours?

Welcome to the new digital age of car repair, where the problem might just be in the phone and not under the hood. It's like the tools are gaslighting us now. Guess we all need to add "software bug detective" to our list of skills.

Saw a post last week from a mechanic who spent three hours on a phantom EVAP leak. Turns out the scan tool software itself had a bug in its latest update. It makes you wonder how much time we waste trusting bad data from our own tools. Do you think we should start double checking the apps with basic tests first?
