I finally argued against the OEM-only mindset at our local repair coffee chat

Honestly, all the guys in my area insist you must use brand-name parts for every job. Tbh, I've fixed dozens of dryers with generic heating elements and they work just fine. Last month, my neighbor's oven needed a new igniter and the aftermarket one cost way less. Ngl, it's been running without a hitch for weeks now. We should stop pushing expensive parts when cheaper ones do the job.

My buddy Mark's dishwasher quit on him last year. The repair shop quoted a crazy price for the OEM circulation pump. He found a generic one online for like a third of the cost. Installed it himself, and that thing has been running EVERY day since. No issues at all. It really shows how the brand-name stuff isn't always necessary.

It's wild how many things are like that, @rodriguez.mia. Brands bank on you thinking their part is the only one that'll work. See it with phone chargers and everything now lol.
