Read somewhere that silent fans usually mean the laptop is about to crash hard.

Dust buildup is usually the culprit in my experience, a quick blast of canned air can save you a headache later. Your mileage may vary but I've seen too many silent laptops give up the ghost mid-project.

My roommate's old laptop did that once and then the screen went all rainbow colored before it just shut off forever. We tried everything but it was totally cooked, turned out the thermal paste had basically turned to dust inside lol. So yeah, if yours starts getting weird colors or performance drops prepare for the worst.
