Update: hit my first 100 real answers in a month, feels weird
I started answering questions here on a whim last month, mostly to kill time during lunch breaks at my desk job in Phoenix. Yesterday I noticed the counter hit triple digits, and honestly the best part was one person who replied to an old answer about fixing a squeaky door hinge, saying it saved them from a $200 repair call. Has anyone else gotten a random thank you way later that made the whole thing worth it?

Ha, that squeaky hinge story cracked me up! A buddy of mine once fixed a stranger's garage door opener with a $15 part he bought at Home Depot, and six months later the guy emailed him a photo of his kids playing in the garage saying "you saved Christmas." He'd completely forgotten he even answered that question, still keeps the screenshot on his phone. That delayed gratitude hits different, right?
