PSA: My new camera mount took 4 hours to get right for a single star shot.
I bought a basic equatorial mount for my DSLR to try some wide field stuff, but getting it polar aligned from my light polluted yard in Phoenix was way harder than the YouTube videos made it look. After messing with the adjustment knobs and my phone's compass app forever, I finally got a decent 2-minute exposure of Orion's Belt without trails. How do you guys do a quick polar alignment when you can barely see Polaris?
