Just realized my 80 year old oak tree finally paid off
Had a guy out yesterday to look at my backyard in Decatur and he pointed out the old oak I've been meaning to trim for years. Turns out having it there dropped my summer cooling bill by maybe $60 a month just from shade on the west side. Never really thought about trees as money savers. Anyone else notice a difference after letting their trees grow out?

Owning a big old tree like that is a gamble. One bad storm and that thing could rip your roof off or crush your car, costing way more than you ever saved on AC. Trimming it now might cost a grand, but the peace of mind knowing it won't pancake your house is worth every penny.
