Noticed a lot of guys skipping the epoxy primer step on bare metal
I was at a shop in Knoxville last month and saw a guy lay down sealer right over bare steel after a repair. He said it saves time and the paint will hold fine. Two weeks later that same panel came back with rust spots poking through the clear coat. I always hit bare metal with epoxy primer first, even if it's just a light coat. It only adds maybe 15 minutes but saves a full respray down the road. Has anyone else run into this shortcut causing issues?

Man that sucks to hear. I feel for the guy who has to deal with that mess later.

Yeah it reminds me of when my buddy tried to fix his own plumbing and ended up flooding the basement, took him three days to clean it up. I guess some things are just better left to the pros.

Tbh @tessap73 you're not wrong, that guy's gonna be knee-deep in someone else's bad decisions. Honestly reminds me of when my neighbor tried to rewire his own garage and nearly burnt the place down. Guess some people just gotta learn the hard way that some messes aren't worth the savings.
