Cannon plug corrosion fix changed my whole troubleshooting flow
Last month I pulled a nav unit that kept throwing intermittent errors and found green crust on the cannon plug pins, cleaned it with contact cleaner and a fiber brush and it's been solid since. Before that I would have swapped the whole LRU first. Has anyone else started checking connector pins before diving into box swaps?

Two years ago I would have bet money that 90 percent of intermittent nav faults were bad LRUs, and I pulled plenty of boxes that turned out to be fine. After getting burned on a swap that fixed nothing, I started scoping pins and grounds first, and half my squawks now end with a brush and some cleaner instead of a new unit. It feels slow at first but it saves way more time than it costs.
