Question about onboarding calls: found out my SDR was reading a script the whole time
Sat in on a discovery call last Tuesday with our new rep Marcus and realized he was basically a robot on the phone, same 6 questions in the same order no matter what the client said. I pulled the call recordings from the last month and counted 14 out of 17 where he never once asked a follow up question. Our close rate on those calls is 8 percent versus 31 percent on calls where someone actually listens. Is this a training problem or did I just hire the wrong guy?

Had the same guy two years ago, turned out he just needed better call reviews where we broke down the recordings together and showed him what good looks like. Six weeks later he was asking follow ups without thinking about it, so try coaching first before you write him off.
