Learned the hard way about wood vs. plastic sheds last month
I spent three weeks going back and forth between a resin shed and a wooden one for my yard in Cleveland. I went with the wood because it looked nicer next to my fence, but after one heavy rain I noticed the floor boards were already starting to bow. The resin one my neighbor got is holding up fine through the same weather and cost $150 less. Anyone else regret picking a wood shed over a plastic one for wet climates?

Funny you mention this, I just saw something on the local news about how wood sheds handle moisture differently depending on the type of wood used. They were saying pressure treated pine is way better for wet climates like ours, but most cheap wood sheds use untreated stuff that soaks up water like a sponge. Your neighbor's resin one probably has that seamless floor that drains water right off, which is a big deal for avoiding rot. I bet if you seal those floor boards with a waterproof coat it might help, but that resin option sounds like it was the smarter move with the price difference and all.

@lucast81, that news segment got me thinking though - did they mention if that pressure treated pine adds much weight to the overall shed structure?

Honestly, isn't it funny how a simple question about wood weight turns into a whole lesson on water and rot? Tbh, it feels like everything in life has that one hidden weak spot that ruins it if you don't think ahead. Like, I noticed how cheap patio furniture cushions get moldy fast if you leave them out in the rain, while the pricier ones dry out in a day. Same with car tires - the cheap ones wear down way quicker in the heat. It's like paying a little extra upfront saves you a ton of hassle later, even if it stings now.
