My switch to sealed containers for fertilizer changed everything

I kept my garden fertilizer in bags that would get damp and clump up often. Moving to airtight plastic bins kept it dry and usable, so I'm not throwing money away. How do you all store bulk gardening supplies to keep them in good shape?

My grandma kept her bone meal in an old metal breadbox in the garage for like twenty years. Honestly, it was probably the driest thing in the whole house, even with the coastal humidity. Tbh, it makes me wonder if we overcomplicate things sometimes with all the new plastic bins. That breadbox just worked.

My old shed had the same problem. I grabbed a couple of those big 5-gallon buckets with the gamma seal lids and now everything stays bone dry.

Gamma seal lids are great for keeping water out, but what about keeping critters from chewing through? A mouse can gnaw right through that plastic. Maybe lining the inside of the bucket with something like hardware cloth could stop that. It's like building a tiny fortress for your stuff.

I used to just rely on the gamma seal lids too, but @grant155 has a point about the chewing risk. I actually had a squirrel get into my bucket once, so now I wrap a layer of metal screen around the inside. It's a bit more work but nothing gets through that plastic now.
