That $250 weatherproof lockbox was a total waste
I bought a fancy weatherproof lockbox for my shed keys back in March. The seal failed after just two months, and water got in anyway, rusting the whole thing. Cost me $250 and I could have just used a $15 hardware store lockbox with a plastic bag inside. Has anyone else had this problem with those expensive outdoor key storage options?

Yeah "total waste" is putting it lightly. I mean, for $250 you'd think they'd at least hold up better than a Tupperware container in a rainstorm. Idk, maybe it's just me but I've had way better luck with the cheap ones from the hardware store and a ziploc bag. The expensive ones just seem to advertise themselves as targets for thieves anyway. Honestly, a lockbox is supposed to be simple, not some premium gadget that fails at its one job.

Did your buddy ever try drilling a small hole in the bottom of those cheap ones for drainage? My friend Kyle had one of those fancy lockboxes rust shut on him in like two months and had to cut it off with a saw.

Actually those drainage holes can backfire if they're too big or not placed right. Had a guy show me how they let in moisture when the box is submerged in rain.
