A take about 'grammar levels' fell apart once I checked a dozen posts by hand
A viral thread last month said any post written above a 6th grade level gets ignored, and it cited a study from 2014 to back it up. I pulled 12 popular posts from three forums I follow, numbered them, and ran each one through a grade level checker. Eight of the 12 landed above 8th grade, and one of the most shared landed at 11th. So the claim only holds if you count professional news sites. The take spread because the headline was clean, not because the data was. Does anyone know where that 2014 study even came from?

12 posts is a tiny sample, hard to call anything dead from that.
