Saw a guy on YouTube claim vinyl plank floating floors are better than glue-down
He said glue-down is outdated and traps moisture. I've done glue-down in basements near St. Louis for 15 years. Zero issues. Has anyone actually seen glue-down fail that badly?

...but was that YouTube guy talking about basements specifically? Most of the moisture complaints I've heard with glue-down are from slabs that weren't cured right or had no vapor barrier underneath.

Yeah @grace_knight19 nailed it honestly. Same with laminate or vinyl plank - people always blame the material first but it's almost always the subfloor or slab acting up. I once spent three days tearing out a floor that had bubbling issues only to find the slab was basically a sponge because the vapor barrier was just a thin sheet of plastic that got ripped during the pour. Felt pretty dumb standing there with a pry bar in my hand realizing I was the one who assumed the concrete guys did their job right. So yeah, moisture under glue-down is rarely the glue or the flooring itself, it's the person who thought a $50 vapor barrier was optional.

Oh yeah, it's just like how people blame the paint when their walls bubble up but really it was that one humid summer they didn't run the dehumidifier... the real problem is usually something boring underneath that nobody wants to check first.
