Ah come on, I dunno about that... I've had way too many companies ghost me after being "nice" about it. Sometimes you gotta just call it what it is and move on.

Did you try contacting the company first? I had a similar issue with a trimmer years ago. I sent them a polite email with the receipt and a photo. They sent me a replacement no questions asked. Might be worth a shot before you chalk it up as a loss. Some brands have good customer service if you give them a chance.
