Appreciation post: My plumber warned me against a certain shower valve
He specifically told me not to get the Glacier Bay single-handle valve from Home Depot, said he sees them fail in under two years. I went with his recommendation for a Moen instead, and it's been solid for five. Anyone have a different valve brand that's held up for a decade?

Reminds me of a cheap water heater that flooded a client's basement.

My old Delta valve lasted 12 years before the cartridge finally gave out. Replaced it with another Delta, no issues. Glacier Bay is basically disposable hardware.

Honestly, 12 years on a single cartridge? That's wild. Ngl I've never had a faucet last that long without needing some kind of fix.

Totally agree with the Delta call. You see it all the time with those big box store brands. They use cheap plastic internals that crack after a few years. My buddy's Glacier Bay faucet started dripping in under two years, and the whole valve body was corroded. You end up replacing the whole unit instead of just a cartridge. That's not a repair, it's just more trash.
