I regret spending $600 on a heated floor system for my small bathroom
I remodeled my master bath last summer and went all in on electric radiant floor heating. Cost me $600 for the mats, thermostat, and labor to wire it in. Two months later I realized I only use it maybe 3 times a month during winter. The bathroom is small, like 30 square feet, so the tile doesn't even get that cold. I could have just put in a $20 rug and been fine. Now I'm stuck with extra wiring in the wall I don't need. Anyone else throw cash at a fancy feature they barely touch?

Did you have one of those fancy digital thermostats that let you schedule it? I heard from a buddy who does tile work that a lot of people overspend on the controls when a basic switch and a timer plug would save half the cost. Maybe you could set it to warm up just before your morning shower and leave it off the rest of the time. Worth a look before you write the whole thing off.

Wait hold on, your buddy who does tile is giving heating advice? @jenny198 I can't believe he thinks a timer plug and a switch would actually work for a heated floor, that's wild.

Yeah it's wild how people overthink simple stuff. I've noticed the same thing with smart home gadgets honestly. Everyone wants the wifi enabled everything but half the time a basic timer or a dumb switch does the job just fine. Same with those fancy light bulbs you can control from your phone. You ever see someone spend $50 on a single bulb when a $5 timer plug would let you set the same schedule? It's like people get sold on the idea of convenience but never stop to think if they actually need it. Heated floors are the same deal. If you just want warm tiles in the morning a basic setup will get you there without the headache.
