Shoutout to the old pine subfloor under my 1980s bathroom tile

I finally tore out the bathroom floor in my 1950s house last weekend. Underneath two layers of linoleum and a 1980s ceramic tile job I found the original 1x6 pine planks. They were stained but solid as a rock, no rot or soft spots anywhere. My buddy who helped me said that lumber was milled from old growth trees and you just don't see that quality in modern OSB or plywood. Has anyone else found something surprisingly good under a bathroom floor that made you stop and appreciate the old work?

My 1950s house had the same thing under kitchen tile, but honestly is a stained pine floor really that big of a deal? I mean cool it's solid but it's just wood planks, not like you found gold under there.

Respectfully disagree though. Ngl finding old growth pine under tile is actually pretty cool since you can't get wood like that anymore, it's way denser and has that tight grain pattern newer wood just doesn't have.

Is finding old pine under tile really that deep? I mean yeah it's cool that it's not rotted out but a bunch of old stained boards under a bathroom floor isn't exactly something I'd call a treasure. My grandpa's house had the same thing and he just threw carpet over it because he didn't care.
