Rant: I watched my neighbor's lawn die in 3 weeks after a cheap hydroseed job

My neighbor paid a fly-by-night company $400 to hydroseed his bare dirt patch in June. They used a low-grade mix with annual rye grass that sprouted fast but died off as soon as the temp hit 95 degrees. Now his yard is just weeds and crabgrass. Did anyone else see those quickie lawn services popping up after storms leave damage?
