Wow that's rough but honestly it's kinda like how my favorite pizza place has like 5 different pizzas but they're all just the same 3 toppings rearranged. People find a formula that works and then they just stick with it forever.

...actually @maxl93 I get what you're saying but that pizza comparison is a little off. Franchises like that are usually locked into a specific menu pretty tight, so they can't really change things up even if they wanted to. But movie studios and game companies have way more freedom, they just choose not to use it. It's not that they found a formula that works, it's that they found a formula that makes money and they're scared to try anything else in case it flops. The pizza place at least has a good reason for doing what they do, since the cost of new ingredients is real. These companies just keep recycling the same three toppings because they know people will still buy it. That's lazier than the pizza place, honestly.
