Hot take: Park Tool cone wrenches are way better than the cheap ones

Bought a $8 set on Amazon and stripped a cone nut on my old Fuji within a week. Picked up the Park Tool set for $45 and they actually fit right, no rounding. Anyone else waste money on bargain tools first?

Sounds about right" is what I tell people. Read a bike shop blog once that said the difference is the steel quality. Cheap ones bend too easy. Tried to save $20 and ended up rounding a nut on my XT crankset. Had to buy a replacement arm. Park Tool set was worth every penny after that.

Wait, did you actually have to buy a whole new arm or just a new nut? That's the kind of mistake that sticks with you for years. I've got a couple bent cheap wrenches in my toolbox that I keep around as a reminder not to be stupid again.

That XT stuff is pricey too. Ouch. I've got a scar on my hand from a wrench that slipped off a stuck nut, so I definitely feel your pain on that one.
