Rant: I finally decided to watch 'The Wire' after hearing about it for years.
I thought I'd knock it out over a long weekend, but it took me almost two months to get through all five seasons because I kept having to rewind to catch the dialogue. Anyone else have a show that demanded your full attention like that?

Oh man, The Wire is basically a full time job! I had to watch it with subtitles on the whole time, felt like I was taking a class on Baltimore. @brooket43 is totally right about the phone thing, my brain is so fried now that a show without constant explosions feels like homework. I tried to watch it while folding laundry once and missed an entire drug deal because I was matching socks. We're all just out here training our brains back to normal attention spans, one confusing HBO show at a time.

Same with trying to read a book now.

Yeah that's how I feel about a lot of stuff now. It's like everything is made to be half-watched while you scroll on your phone. Shows with quiet talking, no laugh tracks, plots you actually have to follow. I miss when things demanded your brain. Even trying to read a book, I catch myself wanting to check my phone every page. It's a whole fight to just pay attention to one thing.
