Spent $60 on a cheap microphone for my reaction videos and the audio glitch made me sound like a robot

I picked up this no-name USB mic from an electronics shop near my place to start recording commentary on those weird glitch compilations. First take was fine, but the second one had this buzzing glitch that turned every word into a robotic mess, sounded hilarious but totally unusable. Anyone else run into audio gear that just randomly freaks out mid-recording?

Damn, that buzzing glitch on a brand new mic is rough. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap headset once - it was like trying to record a conversation through a blender. The little USB interface just started crackling out of nowhere and I had to toss the whole thing after two weeks of fighting with it. Did you try plugging it into a different USB port? Sometimes those cheap mics can't handle the power draw.

Plugging it into a different port might help, could be a janky driver issue too.

@wade_kelly77 made a good point about those cheap mics being power hungry. That buzzing issue is just one of those things that pops up with budget gear all the time, like how my phone charger only works if the cord is bent at a weird angle. Sometimes the fix is as simple as moving it from a front USB port to a rear one on the desktop, or even grabbing a powered hub if the port can't keep up. It's annoying but it's wild how often a simple port swap saves the day.
