Finally picked the 4-player game over the 2-player one for game night

Had to choose between Wingspan and Codenames for our group of 5 last Friday, and I went with Codenames - it actually turned into a 4-hour laughing fest where my cousin accidentally gave the clue 'fruit 3' for apples, bananas, and a picture of a tomato. Anyone else struggle picking between games for different player counts?

My friend Dave once brought Sushi Go to a game night with 6 people thinking it would be a quick round, and it turned into this whole debate about whether eel counts as a dessert. I mean, we spent a good 20 minutes arguing about food categories while the scoring tokens sat untouched. So yeah, picking the right game for the number of people is a whole thing, and Codenames was definitely the safer bet for 5.

Wait, wait, wait. Eel as a dessert?? I have so many questions about that game night debate! Did anyone actually try to argue for it or was Dave just trolling everyone?

Honestly, you've got a point about Wingspan and Codenames, but you're mixing up the player counts a bit. Wingspan maxes out at 5 players, not 4, so you could have actually played that one too. That said, Codenames was the better call for a big group like yours, especially with the tomato twist on fruit clues. Tbh, when my group hits 5 people, I always lean toward party games over anything strategic.
