Game night at a local brewery turned into a rules debate that killed the mood

Went to a meetup at Brewery Bhavana in Raleigh last Friday, and some guy spent 20 minutes arguing about a minor rule in Scythe. It sucked the fun out of the whole table for three rounds. Anyone else have a host who just lets arguments drag on?
