I finally snapped when my cousin brought up politics during our novel talk

She always finds a way to steer the conversation away from the story. Last meeting, she started comparing the characters to real-life politicians, and it got heated. Now, half the group doesn't want to come back. I just want to discuss the themes without all this extra noise.

Thanksgiving isn't when that happens, it's Christmas.

That "save it for Thanksgiving" idea actually makes sense... spreading out family drama makes both holidays easier. Christmas is already packed with stress and forced cheer, so adding that talk then would just blow things up. Having it at Thanksgiving gives everyone a whole month to cool off before the next gathering. Plus people are in a more thankful mood in November, maybe more willing to listen. It's the smarter move.

Wow, hold up, you guys think Thanksgiving is the calmer option? That's wild to me. Honestly, my family's Thanksgiving is a total pressure cooker with way more people crammed in. @rodriguez.christopher saying people are in a more thankful mood feels like a huge gamble, ngl. The tryptophan does not make my aunts more willing to listen, it just makes them sleepy and cranky. Scheduling drama then just ruins a perfectly good meal.
