Question about rounding spines on thicker books
A binder at the Chicago fair last month told me my spines looked too flat on my 2-inch thick projects. I started rounding them more before backing, and the books just open so much better now. What's your go-to method for getting a consistent round?

Honestly, a simple wooden rounding hammer and a firm, steady rocking motion did the trick for me. Consistency just came with practice on some test blocks first.

That firm, steady rocking motion @logan_gonzalez mentioned is key. I used a piece of maple for my hammer and found that rocking it, not pushing it, gave me a much cleaner curve on the pine practice blocks. It really does just take doing it over and over until your hands learn the pace.

What kind of wood works best for that, @logan_gonzalez?
