Used to overspend on bookcloth until I found out the fabric store trick
For years I was dropping $25 a yard at specialty shops until a binder at a meetup told me to just use unbacked cotton from Joann's and make my own with iron-on adhesive. Has anyone else tried cutting costs on materials that way?

Oh yeah, the "unbacked cotton from Joann's" thing is a game changer. I remember when a friend told me about that trick and I felt so dumb for NOT thinking of it sooner. Actually, it reminds me of this ONE time I was trying to fix a old lamp shade with fabric, and I ended up using HEATNBOND on some clearance cotton from Michael's. Worked GREAT for like a third of the price. But then I got carried away and started making all my own storage boxes and notebooks, and now my garage looks like a craft store exploded in it. It's a slippery slope once you stop paying retail.

That slippery slope is real, my garage looks the same way now.
