Hot take: I actually enjoy weeding by hand after a good rain

You said "after a good rain" and that's the part that gets me... is it really the rain that makes it satisfying, or is it more about the ground being soft enough that the roots come out clean? I've had days where I pull weeds after a shower and they just snap off at the soil line, leaving the root still in there to grow back. So what's your trick for knowing when the ground is actually wet enough to get the whole root?

Read a gardening blog once that said the trick is to wait about 12 hours after heavy rain, not right after. @baker.christopher that's when the clay particles aren't clinging as hard but the roots are still loose. Too soon and you get that snapping problem you mentioned.
